TAMPING MACHINE HIRE
We have two Plasser & Theurer 07-275 tamping machines available for hire. These are ‘switch & crossing’ machines rather than their simpler plain line machines, making them ideal for all tamping work requirements at all locations. Being ‘tamper-liners’ makes them all-round versatile machines. In addition, Railway Support Services provide a fully qualified crew for operating and undertaking this specialist work.

LOCOMOTIVE HIRE AND MAINTENANCE/OVERHAUL
As well as offering the tamping machines for hire, Railway Support Services also have a number of shunting locomotives which are available for short or long term hire. Ideal for use within depots or in the industrial sector, these locomotives can come with an experienced operator if required. Overhauled to a high standard, a full maintenance package is also included to ensure maximum reliability.

MFD SPECIALIST LIFTING EQUIPMENT
Railway Support Services have a full set of portable MFD hydraulic lifting gear with a total capacity of 500 tons. Operated by one of our qualified personnel, these jacks are ideal for use when it comes to undertaking maintenance, such as lifting locos for bogie swaps, lifting wagons for maintenance purposes, or assisting with derailments. The remote operation of these jacks enables all work to be done in a safe manner.

PERMANENT WAY / TRACK WORK
Railway Support Services offer a variety of services and products for Permanent Way. These include rail end straightening (correction of dipped joints), flaw detection and the supply and recovery of any components required (sleepers, rails and fixings). For new-build projects, we have a qualified inspector who will sign off any work that is up to the required standard on both industrial and heritage railway sites.

SIGNALLING
Heritage railways can rely on Railway Support Services for assistance with the design, acquisition and installation of semaphore signalling and associated mechanical and electrical interlockings. Our signalling portfolio, covered by our signalling staff (who have decades of experience working with heritage railways) covers every aspect involved with this form of signalling which was once abundant on Britains railways.

ENGINEERING SERVICES
Railway Support Services have a well equipped workshop located in Birmingham which is able to undertake manufacturing, milling, fabrication and welding of rolling stock items for coaches, wagons steam and diesel locomotives based on your individual requirements. It is also at our workshop where we can undertake restoration of rolling stock if required.

COLMAR 360 ROAD RAIL VEHICLE
Road Rail Vehicles (RRVs) are essential worksite machines which assist with the construction, maintenance and renewal of any trackwork. As well as the sleeper and rail grabs, the machine can also be fitted with a flail head attachment which makes it an ideal machine to assist with the mechanical lineside vegetation control alongside our other services (see below).

LINESIDE CLEARANCE
Utilising the latest technology, Railway Support Services are able to offer machines for embankment clearance as well as flailing services and weed killing on and around the track formation.
