One of the main services offered by RAILWAY SUPPORT SERVICES is connected with the most important aspect of any railway system - the trackwork.
Specialising in serving the industrial sector and the heritage railway movement (areas that many companies are not interested in assisting) as well as more modern establishments - we offer assistance with trackwork processes and preparations from start to finish, concluding with our unrivalled tamping service and any remaining follow-up work required.
Concrete bullhead and flat bottom sleepers wooden sleepers and timbers, ex-Great Western ‘00’ gauge rail, 95lb bullhead, 113lb flat bottom and everything in between - we’ve got it covered!
RAIL END STRAIGHTENING
Railway Support Services can provide the specialist machinery to correct dipped joints where the end of the rail has deformed over the years.
FLAW DETECTION
Using non-intrusive ultrasonic methods, we can inspect rails and trackwork for any signs of deterioration or fatigue before any serious damage occurs.
SUPPLY OF MATERIALS
Railway Support Services can supply most materials required for the construction and maintenance of the permanent way. Sleepers, crossing timbers, fishplates, fishbolts, chairs, screws - we’ve got it all covered.
RECOVERY OF MATERIALS
As well as supplying materials for the construction of trackwork, Railway Support Services can also recover trackwork and components from redundant locations.
NEW BUILD PROJECTS
Under new regulations issued by Her Majesty’s Railway Inspectorate (HMRI), Railway Support Services can provide a competent person to sign off new-build projects (such as heritage railway extensions) providing they are up to the required standard under these new guidelines. Advice can also be given during any stage of the construction process with assistance where required.
COLMAR 360 ROAD RAIL VEHICLE
Railway Support Services can provide a Colmar 360-degree road-rail vehicle which has the following attachments: rail grab, sleeper grab, clamshell bucket and a general lifting hook for all your permanent way needs.
